Adventist Health Portland Awards Crystal Angel Award to Dr. Murlan Grise
Physician of the Year award recognizes longtime Adventist Health’s Hoodland Clinic provider
PORTLAND, Ore.— Adventist Health Portland has named Murlan Grise, DO, as the organization’s Crystal Angel Award recipient for 2017. This annual award recognizes a health care provider who has been nominated by physician colleagues for their dedication to the mission of Adventist Health.
For more than 30 years the rural community in and around Welches, Ore., has been blessed with the skill, commitment and caring of Grise through his practice at Adventist Health Medical Group’s Hoodland clinic. Grise has developed long-term relationships with multiple generations and more than 96 percent of patients report on surveys that they would definitely recommend Dr. Grise to others. As a result of his leadership, the clinic is recognized as a Patient-Centered Primary Care Home. Grise is also recognized as a NCQA provider for the care and treatment of diabetes.
Grise has made Hoodland clinic a place where the care that’s needed is always available. In some cases, that means unscheduled visits to triage and treat injuries after hours. One of these evening calls for what was reported as a severe case of heartburn turned out to be a cardiac event. Grise provided lifesaving care for his patient until first responders arrived.
In Grise’s practice, patients see their own values and the example of Jesus’ ministry. At the most basic level he is someone who cares for them, about them and with them. Community members know they have a friend and partner they can depend on at the Hoodland clinic.
