John Kennedy, PE, has joined the AKS engineering team as Public Works Project Manager involved in the oversight of public sector projects for the firm.
Kennedy, a sixth generation Oregonian, has 35 years of engineering experience and has worked for multiple public agencies in Oregon, including positions as Assistant City Engineer for City of McMinnville, Project Manager for Port of Portland, Assistant City Engineer for City of Lake Oswego, and Senior Engineer for Clean Water Services.
Four years ago, Kennedy moved to Washington D.C. to work on the $2.6 billion DC Clean Rivers program. He was DC Water’s Program Manager for construction of the $156 million First St. Tunnel project and the Resident Engineer for a $3.5 million Low Impact Development (Green Infrastructure) Retrofit construction project.
This past June, Kennedy decided it was time to move back home to Oregon.
“It’s always been a pleasure completing projects for John over the years, whether it was for the City of Lake Oswego or Clean Water Services. The AKS team knew that if John ever made the switch over to the consulting side, we would need to snatch him up. After a conversation discussing his interest in returning home to the Pacific Northwest, we asked him to join our team to focus on the public sector,” said AKS Principal Alex Hurley.
“I’m thrilled to get a new perspective on AKS Projects, said John. “I look forward to bringing my skills to the table and fulfilling my role as Public Works Project Manager.”
Kennedy holds a degree in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Oregon and Washington and an Environmental Engineer in Oregon.
Kennedy works in AKS’ Salem-Keizer office and can be contacted at (503) 400-6028.
