PORTLAND, OR – March 23, 2017 – Compass Law LLC, a boutique practice specializing in business, corporate, finance and real estate law, today announced it has opened a Portland-based office to service clients in Oregon, Washington and California.
Headed up by partners Sean M. Beers and Charles E. Harrell, Compass Law primarily focuses on entrepreneurial clients in real estate development, retail and consumer products, wineries and vineyards, breweries and spirits, and the fast-growing cannabis industry.

He possesses extensive general management, finance, operations, international transactions and legal expertise in the retail, light industrial and consumer products sector, with more than two decades of experience both as an owner/operator of emerging businesses and as a senior manager at Columbia Sportswear Co. during a period of significant growth. At Columbia, Beers was integral to executing the successful turnaround of the Sorel brand, which Columbia Sportswear Company acquired out of bankruptcy and then grew under Beers’ leadership to approximately $50 million in annual revenues. He also served as the general manager of Columbia’s global footwear business, where he was successful in executing an operational turnaround for the division while positioning it for future growth.
Charles Harrell has been practicing law since 2001 with an emphasis on representing small and family-owned businesses as general outside counsel, advising clients in all legal aspects of the operation of their businesses. Harrell’s law practice focuses on general corporate governance, business transactional matters and real estate transactions. His client base includes nationally known retail brands, international wineries, luxury home builders and dozens of emerging brands. His industry focus includes clients in Portland’s athletic and outdoor sector, light industrial and manufacturing, real estate development, wineries and vineyards, alcohol and spirits, and Oregon’s emerging cannabis industry.
