Downtown Portland Fixture Stevens-Ness Celebrates 95 Years In Business
Portland, Ore., September 11, 2015 Longtime downtown Portland retailer Stevens-Ness Law Publishing Co. is in the mood to celebrate, as 2015 marks its 95th year in business. While the legal forms and office supplies merchant has been holding monthly prize drawings since January to publicize this milestone, the big celebration happens during the week of September 14-18, when customers can drop in and try their luck at spinning the wheel for exciting prizes. Tuesday, September 15 will feature a special open house from 4:00 - 6:00 PM with prizes, giveaways and tasty refreshments.
Founded in 1920 by Laurence Stevens and Pat Ness, Stevens-Ness started out selling law books, printed stationery and legal forms. Today the company publishes a complete line of legal forms for Oregon and Washington (in paper and electronic versions) that are available throughout both states, thanks to a network of participating dealers. Stevens-Ness also offers a full spectrum of office supplies and provides free delivery in the downtown area, often with same-day service. In recent years the company has expanded its offerings to include notary services, fingerprinting, passport photos and its popular Pen Of The Month Club.
Elizabeth Snow McDougall, granddaughter of founder Pat Ness and current president of Stevens-Ness, is pleased to see the company hit the 95-year mark. "We're very proud to be one of a few historic businesses still operating in the downtown core. We recognize that we couldn't have made it this far without the support of our loyal customers and our downtown neighbors, so we're taking this opportunity to thank them and invite them to celebrate with us."
