Portland photographer, Friderike Heuer notes, "In times in which nationalism and xenophobia are on the rise, art can remind us of democracy's core values. Hosting refugees from war-torn lands is one of those. Friderike Heuer's montages of European landscapes evoke how much refugees and we are alike: we all dream of a home, safety, freedom from persecution and integration into a just society. The vibrant and intense colors of the work point to both hope and nightmares."
The gallery will be open, February 5, 2-4pm for Friederike Heuer's Opening Reception and Artist Talk.
Regular gallery hours: 9AM-4PM, Monday - Friday, Saturday 9AM-5PM.
