Residents who want to unwind after Election Day and kick off the season of giving, will have plenty of options at this fundraiser for Portlands 4-legged friends. The event will host a silent auction, doggie costume contest, special pet-themed menu items, and a portion of the days proceeds will be matched and donated to two local animal shelters.
On Nov. 4, 2015, pet-lovers across Portland are invited to join in this all day event by dining at any one of five Lompoc Breweries across the city: Lompoc Tavern, Hedge House, Fifth Quadrant, Sidebar and Oaks Bottom. To participate, simply order any food or drink item, and Home Sweet Home Realty will donate 100% of the days proceeds, up to $4000, to the rescue missions of two local non-profits.
Both House of Dreams cat shelter and Family Dog New Life Shelter were chosen as the beneficiaries of this event due to their no-kill policies. House of Dreams welcomes cats of any age and any medical history; and they pride themselves on being an assisted living facility for cats. Family Dog New Life Shelter has rescued and re-homed over 11,000 homeless dogs since 2004; they believe that all dogs deserve a second chance at a new life.
Lompocs animal-friendly outdoor patios are where the action will go down for the doggie costume contests, happening all day at all locations. Categories include Small Dog, Big Dog, Most Creative Costume and Silliest Costume. To enter, participants should post a photo of their pet on Home Sweet Home Realtys Facebook page. Winners and prizes will be announced the following day on Facebook.
Local businesses along the N. Williams corridor have donated their services and unique items for the silent auction, which is taking place from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Sidebar and 5th Quadrant locations only.
