A visionary and nationally recognized design leader, Hampson brings over 25 years of experience and an extensive portfolio of project types, including higher education, healthcare, science and technology, public and civic, and sports and recreation. While at CannonDesign, Carl served as the firm’s Regional Design Leader for its three West Coast offices leading teams on large-scale projects throughout the US and Canada. His innovative work has earned numerous accolades, including two National AIA Design awards and multiple regional AIA and industry honors. His work has been published in Architectural Record, Architect Magazine, and Healthcare Global, and featured in a variety of exhibitions. Rich Mitchell, Managing Principal at Mackenzie, is confident that Hampson’s design expertise and depth of experience will bring significant value to the firm and Mackenzie’s clients. “Carl’s mentoring qualities, strong emphasis on relationship building, and holistic design philosophy all coincide with Mackenzie’s design driven, client focused business approach,” said Mitchell. Hampson will work closely with Mackenzie’s current design leaders: Principal of Design for Interiors, Lynne Ingram, and Principal of Design for Workplace, Michael Talbot. Their collaborative leadership will broaden and calibrate the firm’s integrated design efforts to continue to move the firm forward in the design and delivery of high-performing projects.
Throughout his career, Carl Hampson has strived to advance the mission of his clients through innovation and the pursuit of design excellence. He brings a collaborative approach to design leadership with a creative process that fuses context, sustainability, and performance with client goals and objectives. Hampson will provide overall design direction and mentorship focused on architecture across the firm’s business units and serve as a resource for its three offices in Oregon and Washington. Susan Higbee, Principal at Mackenzie, expressed that the firm leadership and staff are energized by the positive impact Hampson will bring to the continuing evolution of the firm. A licensed architect in Oregon and California, Hampson received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Southern California and Master of Architecture degree from the University of California at Los Angeles.
The Principal of Design for Interiors, Lynne Ingram, brings over 25 years of design leadership and carries a diverse portfolio of award-winning workplace, repositioning, and tenant improvement projects. “Lynne’s vision and design leadership have been instrumental in furthering Mackenzie’s interior design practice during her tenure,” said Higbee. “She’s adept at working with clients to create branded environments that responds to overarching strategic goals.” Ingram recently led the design efforts for The 100 at Park Square, KOIN Tower, and Viewpoint at 1510 Technology Center.
As Mackenzie’s Principal of Design for Workplace, Michael Talbot spearheads the firm's Workplace Design Lab, an interdisciplinary team of creatives, including designers, brand strategists, architects, and sustainability strategists. The Lab explores shifting paradigms in the workplace and innovation in workplace design. Higbee said “Michael’s role is focused on leading and growing our workplace practice as it continues to be a significant, emerging business sector for the firm." Talbot’s leadership was instrumental with the design efforts for NAVEX Global, Yakima, One Main Place, KOIN Tower, and The Hudson Building. Several of his previous projects have received design awards and been featured in design publications.
