NW Securities Advisors selected by State of Oregon
to create free health insurance enrollment center
Portland, OR NW Securities Advisors is one of 24 Oregon insurance agencies selected by the Department of Consumer and Business Services, Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace to help Oregonians sign up for and re-enroll in health insurance. The local agency received a grant to create a drop-in enrollment center during the upcoming health insurance open enrollment from Nov. 1, 2015, to Jan. 31, 2016.
Being a drop-in center means that NW Securities will provide free, one-on-one help to people shopping for and enrolling in health insurance, as well as financial help to pay for it, through HealthCare.gov. It will also provide help or partner referrals to people signing up for Oregon Health Plan. In addition to regular business hours, NW Securities will offer extended hours at least one evening a week.
This is especially important in our community. In tri county Portland metro area there is a higher number of people who are eligible for financial help but are currently uninsured or not taking advantage of it compared to the rest of the state.
Oregonians have made it clear that they value local, in-person help when shopping and enrolling in health insurance, said DCBS Director Patrick Allen. Were grateful for the network of agents and community organizations across the state providing that support.
There are at least 130,000 unenrolled, uninsured individuals in the metro are who are eligible for a qualified health plan said Steve Brown with NW Securities, We want to partner with the Oregon Health Authority and local community partners to lower that number in the here in the Portland area.
NW Securities is located at 8835 SW Canyon Lane, Suite 115, Portland, OR 97225. It is on Tri Met line 58, offers free parking, and is accessible to people with disabilities. Walk-ins are welcome, or people may call 503-924-3000 to make an appointment. Hours of operation are 9:00 to 5:00.
Health insurance helps people and families stay healthy by getting the care they need. And it protects them from large health care expenses. Financial help is available for many people. In fact, three out of every four Oregonians who signed up through HealthCare.gov last year qualified for financial help to pay for insurance.
People who dont have insurance will have until Jan. 31 to sign up. Otherwise, they will have to wait another year and could pay an increased penalty on their 2016 taxes. For people who bought health insurance last year, it is important to shop again this year as some plans have changed and there may be a better fit.
People who want to sign up on their own can enroll at HealthCare.gov, and people can find free in-person help from agents or community organizations in their community at OregonHealthCare.gov. The website has informational brochures in different languages and for different communities.
Across the state, enrollment centers will be located in the following communities:
Portland metro area
